 About Us

At Mount Zion Church we are committed to pursue Our Vision by following the principles of a Spirit Filled Life as described in the Bible. These principles will always result in behavior that is proper and beneficial to all those involved.

For this reason, we encourage all our members to continuously abide by the following principles.

Our Principles of Spirit Filled Life
  • We will endeavor in ensuring that our instruction in God's Word never violates precise and careful Biblical exegesis.

Biblical integrity and authority is undermined when a personal and subjective experience is sought more than an objective understanding of the Scriptures.

Experiencing the Truth makes us free (John 8:32) only when it is rightly understood and then surrendered to obediently, as the supreme and divine guideline for living.

  • We will be open to each other and will not allows any form of manipulation or exploitation.

Our relationships spring from our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our fellowship involves giving unconditional love and acceptance without string attached.

  • We will worship in freedom, but will not fall into fanaticism.

We can be expressive in our worship, but we differentiate between the sound of praise and the sound of noise.

We worship in Spirit with liberty, but in unity, under our leadership.

  • Our joy will never degenerate into mere emotionality.

Childlike simplicity and faith is neither childishness or emotionalism. We choose to worship and serve our Lord jesus Christ in thoughtful, considerate, joyous freedom.

This is a far better expression of worship expression than the pomp and pride of social religion.

  • We will encourage the true manifestation of the Gifts of the Spirit as these never violate the Word of God.

We welcome the Holy Spirit in our meeting to distribute His gifts among us according to His will.

We desire and benefit from the Scriptural manifestation of the Gifts of the Spirit which is characterized by a gracious ministry, submissive spirit, and orderly operation.

  • Mt. Zion

Mount Zion is the hill in Jerusalem where in the Old Testament the Temple was located and the presence of God dwelt. God’s presence is now in His church.

Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come to mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, who are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.

  • The Glory

The glory is the manifestation of the presence of God that can be perceived by our spiritual and physical faculties.

1 Kings 8:10 And it came to pass, when the priests had come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, 11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

  • The Anointing

The anointing is the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received from him abides in you, and ye need not that any man should teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

  • To Minister

To minister is to serve, help or bless another by the Spirit of Christ working in us.

2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient by ourselves to think any thing as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.

  • Revelation

Revelation is to receive understanding of God’s will and truth.

Ephesians 1:15 Therefore I also, having heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love to all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

  • To Fall Under the Anointing

A person may fall to the ground while being ministered to, as the Holy Spirit fills and surrounds him with power.

Acts 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why you persecute me?

1 Kings 8:11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

John 18:5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus says to them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

  • To be Born Again

Born again believers are people who have put their trust in Jesus’ death on the cross for their sins. This wonderful transformation takes place when we acknowledge our sinfulness, decide to turn away from our sins, and give our lives to Jesus.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

  • Spiritual Gifts

The Holy Spirit gives some spiritual abilities to people when they are born again. These gifts become more evident after the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with liberality; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, various kinds of tongues.

  • Baptism of the Holy Spirit

This is the empowering experience of believers when the anointing of the Holy Spirit falls on them.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them cloven tongues as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 10:44 While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them who heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. 46 For they heard them speak in tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

  • Why do we worship God?

Matthew 4:10 Then says Jesus to him, Away with thee, Satan: for it is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shall you serve.

  • How should we worship God?

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Philippians 3:3 For we are the true circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

  • Why do we stand to sing?

Standing is a sign of respect as we acknowledge the presence of God

2 Chronicles 20:19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.

Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb.

  • Why do we clap our hands?

Psalms 47:1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout to God with the voice of triumph.

  • Why do we lift our hands?

Psalms 63:4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

Psalms 134:2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.

1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

  • Why do we make audible praise to God?

Psalms 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Revelation 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of many people in heaven, saying, Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, to the Lord our God:

Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests to God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

  • Why do we sing choruses and hymns?

    Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

  • Why do we sing in tongues and in English?

1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

  • Why do we have speaking in unknown tongues and interpretation?

1 Corinthians 14:39 Therefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit of all.

1 Corinthians 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

1 Corinthians 14:5 I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

1 Corinthians 14:27 If any man speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

  • What is prophecy and why do we prophesy?

1 Corinthians 14:3 But he that prophesies speaks to men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

1 Corinthians 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

  • Why play musical instruments in our worship service?

Psalms 150:3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and pipes. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Revelation 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

  • Why does the whole church pray at once for specific needs?

Acts 4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, who hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them:

  • Why do we receive tithes and offerings?

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye measure it shall be measured to you again.

Deuteronomy 16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

and releasing them for ministry."
